The Garden of Morning Calm, Korea – Best of Autumn

The Garden of Morning Calm

Stepping onto The Garden of Morning Calm is like entering an otherworldly realm. I was enchanted perhaps because it was my first time experiencing Autumn – my favorite season which I’ve only ever seen in movies or read about in books.

“Fall has always been my favorite season. The time when everything bursts with its last beauty, as if nature had been saving up all year for the grand finale.” – Lauren DeStefano

I remember we woke up early to travel about two hours from Seoul to reach the garden. We booked a car via Klook that would bring us there (and later on to Nami Island). The autumn breeze felt like a soft, comforting hug – the wind blowing felt fresh and delicious! Yup, if I could trap it in a bottle and bring it with me back to the Philippines, I would.

About The Garden of Morning Calm from Wikipedia

It is an arboretum located at the east of Seoul, in the Gapyeong district of South Korea. On 300,000 m², it houses 5,000 species of plants, some rare or endangered and attracts 600,000 tourists per year.

Address: 432 Sumogwon-ro, Sang-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea

But wait, what’s an arboretum? It is a botanical garden devoted to trees.

Ohh ok – fancy. Haha.

I’ve read that its name is inspired by South Korea’s nickname – The Land of the Morning Calm – and it focuses on the natural beauty of the country and some beautiful floral arrangements.

According to this blog, it has been used as a filming location for many Korean TV series, including the hit drama, “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds,” starred by Park Bo-gum and Kim Yoo-jung.

I wouldn’t be surprised because it offers a picturesque landscape that looks like something out of a storybook or a movie set. It also lives up to its name as it offers a sense of calm and peace as you walk around its vastness.

Here’s a photo overload for you.

It was the perfect time to be in the garden to witness the showcase of autumn colors. I think we would never have seen this if we opted to delay our trip to a different month.

It’s just so beautiful that you probably need quite some time to walk around, chill, take photos, think about the space-time continuum, take photos again, and finally leave with a bittersweet heart.

I wish we had the whole day but maybe that means we shall be back for more next time.

PS: Don’t miss the delicious Korean snacks just outside the garden. 🙂

PPS: None of the photos in this blog post were edited or filtered. The sizes were reduced so that my blog won’t burst, lol. As such, there might definitely be quality loss. Anyway, I just used my Realme 9 Pro for this entire trip. I think the photos came out pretty fine – the videos not so much but still decent. What can I say, we can never have it all. Haha. #notsponsored
