Red Lizard Taqueria is the newest restaurant of The Abaca Group in Cebu. When you hear about The Abaca Group, you will probably think of expensive food or fine dining restaurants. However, along with this impression of “expensive” is the fact that they only serve quality food with premium ingredients so your dining experience is definitely worth it.
The concept of Red Lizard is nothing complicated. It’s a fast-casual restaurant. Not fast food but real, slow food cooked fast. Despite the fast service, you are sure to eat quality food that’s prepared carefully just like what all Abaca Restaurants have been known for.
With Red Lizard, you’ll get a taste of your favorite Mexican comfort food for budget-friendly prices. Simple but full of goodness! The food is truly worth the value for your money as they don’t skimp on ingredients at all.
Before you even get to eat, you’ll be treated to a casual and playful vibe of the restaurant. It’s a cool place to hang out with family and friends. You can enjoy dining inside or even al fresco. My favorite part is their super artsy wall art that shows illustrations of Red Lizard – an undefeated legendary Mexican wrestler.
We sampled some of the famous Mexican favorites and I have to say the food exceeded my expectations!
*Homemada Masa Chips (Gluten-free) Add delicious dips! We had Creamy Texas Style Queso (A blend of cheeses and pickled jalapeños)
*Quesadillas (Chicken/Chorizo/Carnitas). Their handcrafted flour tortilla is stuffed with peppers, onions, and a lot of cheese.
*Pork Belly Texas Tacos (2 per order); marinated in guajillo chili with coriander, onions, and garlic. They also have Tinga de Pollo, Pork Carnitas, Carne Asada, and Spicy Chorizo.
*Nachos Machos – Made to order masa chips with a heaping portion of Texas Style queso, refried beans, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, salsa roja, sour cream, and pickled jalapeños. (add-on taco beef available)
*Los Tacos Originales (2 per order); Crispy corn tacos with homemade beef taco filling, iceberg lettuce, queso fundido, and salsa roja
One of their best-sellers is burrito (not pictured) – fully loaded hand rolled flour tortilla stuffed with Mexican rice, refried beans, three cheeses, sour cream, and your choice of meat. Prices range from Php 219-259.
Eating all of those goodness was already a good meal! We ate at around 5PM-6PM and I was so full that I didn’t eat my usual dinner with rice anymore.
Red Lizard also offers soft drinks, margaritas, Mojitos, as well as local and imported beer which you’ll definitely need to end a satisfying meal.
