The statue of Murugan, a Hindu deity, is standing tall outside the Batu Caves. No wonder people always take photos of this statue! It’s so huge. In fact, it’s the world’s biggest statue of this Hindu deity (42.7 meters high). Source: Wiki
As a tourist, of course, I took the chance to have a photo too. My friends and I went there early morning via train. There was no entrance fee so you’re free to go up the biggest temple cave 272 steps up.
Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of cave temples. Your visit to Malaysia is probably not complete without heading to Batu Caves. Aside from Petronas Towers, it’s one of the most famous tourist attractions in their country.
The cave complex is mainly a religious site. To get to the biggest cave called the Cathedral Cave or Temple Cave, you have to climb a steep flight of 272 steps. No sweat!
Although there was construction going on when we went, the caves were still magnificent and beautiful. To me, it’s like a mix of modern and traditional since it has already undergone restorations. I like the feel of being inside the cave though. There were several people but the tourists were respectful of the caves’ peace.
There were monkeys roaming around freely so be careful. They weren’t particularly threatening or what, but I kinda got scared. Haha. If you bring food, expect that they’ll get it from you. We didn’t bring food but we had to avoid them because I felt like they would jump over me anytime. LOL
That’s it for today’s quick update! More soon. ♥
