Hidden Beach Resort: A Quiet Sunday Getaway

Rea Ninja
Hidden Beach

Hidden Beach in Aloguinsan, Cebu is a gem tucked in the stunning corner of the province. Somehow it lives up to its name. Being hidden has an advantage because it isn’t over-crowded with tourists and locals. And that’s exactly where I wanted to be last weekend.

It was a long weekend and sometimes it would rain but my friend Pearl did what she’s best at – inviting me to a super last minute escapade away from the city! Since I was hibernating the entire week, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to breathe fresh air. So with barely a plan in mind, off to the beach we went.

We discovered that there are only a few buses and mini-buses going directly to Aloguinsan with only 4 trips daily and it’s not even the usual Ceres bus. We woke up at 3 am but we were told the mini-bus would leave at 5:20 am! So waiting in silence, it was.

Aloguinsan is a fairly short trip from the city – just about 1.5 to 2 hours and we’re on the beach. We bought breakfast at the Aloguinsan market before riding a motorcycle heading to Hidden Beach. We originally wanted to go to Hermit’s Cove but sources said that since it’s already a semi-public beach, it’s regulated by the local tourism office so we need to have a reservation because it gets really crowded.

Well, perhaps we can go back next time.

It might not be the most stunning beach you’ll see in Cebu but for us who just wanted to chill and embrace the silence of a Sunday morning on the beach, it was quite perfect. And at this point in my life, I can say I’m the kind of person who sees the good and beauty in everything. It’s a nice thing to practice in life.

As you see below, instead of the usual white sand, it was cream-colored. It was also low tide for most of the day when we went. You’ll see in the photos how some people were so far away, lol.

I didn’t even go swimming. I just watched the people around, took photos, then slept on the sand under the shade of a tree. It was a good day.

It was indeed a quiet Sunday for us while admiring the beauty of the beach. Then slowly, as if signaling us to pack up, the sky changed color – and we’re set to go home and end the day. Getaways like this truly make me appreciate life more.

On Sundays, mini-buses at the Aloguinsan market are only until 2 pm so we had to ride a motorcycle going to Mantalungon market for 45 minutes to catch the next bus back to the city.

Our Expenses:
Php 80   >> South Bus – Aloguinsan Market via mini-bus
Php 30   >> Aloguinsan Market – Hidden Beach via Habal-habal
Php 50   >> Entrance Fee
Php 150 >> 1 table for the two of us
Php 150 >> Hidden Beach – Mantalungon Market via Habal-habal
Php 60   >> Mantalungon Market – Cebu City via Ceres Bus
Php 520 >> Total per person (or less because we split the bill for the table)*Also we had to buy breakfast and drinking water at the market which cost around Php 300 for the two of us. There’s also a store in Hidden Beach but prices are relatively higher than usual.

Note: We cannot guarantee that you will spend the same. The breakdown above was obviously based on our experience. Rates and fees may change.
