It’s been more than a year since I left the corporate world, and if there’s one thing I constantly miss about it – it’s the people I’ve been with and worked with for nearly 7 years. We all eventually left the workplace and moved on with our own personal lives and careers but we’re still the same old silly friends together.
Two weeks ago, we all found the time to have a get-together because it was a long weekend and two friends were flying to Cebu. The best way to do it? A beach trip to the South! We didn’t have a concrete plan leading to the days before our trip, but we somehow managed to book a good enough accommodation for all six of us.
We arrived by nighttime, checking in at Magic Beach Resort in Lambug, Badian. A lot of the storytelling and bonding happened while we were preparing dinner. After dinner, we spent some time sitting on the beachfront, on the fine white sand – reminiscing, talking, laughing, with oozzzhh and aaahhhsss – all while drinking wine one of us was chugging a bottle of wine, lol.
(No photos of that moment because it was too dark and no videos because most of the convo were high profile, haha!)
We slept pretty late (early in the morning). Despite that, I decided to wake up a little earlier than usual because I wanted to catch the sunrise. And really just because I haven’t been up at 5 or 6 AM in a long time, plus the beach is usually serene and not crowded in the morning.
I guess it was a good decision to wake up early. There were not many people yet and I got to fulfill my pastel dreams photoshoot; ’twas so perfect. ♥
I loved watching people go by – like that man who seemed to be chasing the sunrise just like I was. I loved watching the dark sky turn bright. I loved watching the little details of everything.
Although I brought a beach tent, we didn’t sleep there because we wouldn’t fit. Haha! We just booked a room with two beds, which was for Php 1500 only (rates are subject to change). Magic Beach Resort has its own kitchen/cooking area where you’re free to use the pans, pots, and utensils but make sure to wash your own dishes and clean up after.
I was actually impressed that the place was well-maintained. It wasn’t spotless but was still clean. There’s also a refrigerator to keep your food (no corkage). There’s a store nearby and there’s also enough water supply.
There was no cell signal and WiFi – a perfect way to go off the grid even just for a while. After all, it was a time for us to catch up. I don’t even have lots of photos because I just wanted to put my phone down and enjoy the moment. 🙂
It was a great weekend! We don’t always get to see each other so it was something that we all really enjoyed.
