Breezing Through Universal Studios Singapore

They say that one day is never enough to really get a feel of Universal Studios Singapore. And guess what, they’re right! USS is the most expensive entrance ticket I had to shell out during my trip. For adults, it costs S$76 (please check online in case the rate gets updated). I booked mine ahead of time via Klook to get a discount. It really helped so that I didn’t have to line up for tickets!

We booked the first one.

Universal Studios is Southeast Asia’s first movie theme park (second in Asia) and it’s located inside Resorts World Sentosa. The theme park is 20 hectares big or the size of 25 football fields combined! It’s that huge. With the hefty price tag, you’d think that I’d really spend the entire day in the theme park. I would have loved to, but as I’ve mentioned in my previous posts, I only had limited time.

That time, I wasn’t alone anymore since two of my friends already arrived. So how did we manage to go around USS in 5 hours or 300 minutes?! We really just went to the zones we loved to try. We knew we wouldn’t be able to try everything so whatever we could squeeze in the little time we had, we went for it.

Our first stop was some quick photo sesh at the iconic globe. I didn’t realize it’s just before the entrance of the theme park so tourists who are visiting and just want to take a photo of the globe need not get a ticket, haha!

We then just walked around Hollywood avenue to take some photos, then moved to queue at Battlestar Galactica – one of the most popular rides for thrill-seekers. We waited for 1 hour and 30 minutes for this because there were so many people even though we arrived at USS just in time for the opening at 10 AM. It’s wise to come before opening if you can so you can line up first or get an express pass if the budget is not a concern.

So while waiting for the roller coaster ride, we were talking about how long one round would take. We even said that it’s probably 15 minutes. Then when we were next in line, we noticed that it took only 2 minutes at most. Super long waiting time for just a 2-minute ride. Once we were done, we immediately understood why it only took 2 minutes. We’d probably die if it was 15 minutes! Sheesh.

Battlestar Galactica is a high-speed turbulent roller coaster ride. There’s a height and body weight requirement/restriction for safety purposes. It’s certainly not for the faint-hearted. So many times, I felt like my heart would jump from my chest or that the safety seat belt would somehow budge and I’d fall. It wasn’t my first roller coaster ride, but that was different. Goodness. Nonetheless, it was fun!

The next ride we took was Transformers: The Ultimate 3D Battle. Again, there was a long queue so we had to wait another hour or so.. just for a short ride. I didn’t regret the ride though because it’s one of the best 3D rides I’ve ever experienced, plus I love the Transformers movies so it was one way to somehow get into the world of the Autobots and Decepticons.

It’s a hyper-realistic thrill ride that will set you in the middle of all the action as you become a freedom fighter against the forces of evil. I loved the flying part!! Sounds legit? Ha! However, if you’re claustrophobic, or prone to dizziness and motion sickness, maybe it’s best to skip this ride.

Okay, so that was it, really. We only managed to squeeze in two rides. We didn’t get to try two more exhilarating rides like The Mummy and Jurassic Park. 🙁 But then again, that’s life. LOL. We walked around some more just to rest, then we found a restaurant. We were starving as it was already around 2 PM.

Since we booked via Klook, we’re entitled to a S$5 discount for any meals at any restaurants inside USS. So we got this. SO SIMPLE BUT SO GOOD! It was already a heavy meal. I forgot the name of the resto though.

After the rides and after eating, I was too tired to take photos so I only had a few. We just walked around a few more minutes before heading to our next destination.

IT WAS HOT by the way. A cap and a bottle of water are both necessary! Despite the limited time, it was a good day and we all had fun. Maybe if I feel like visiting USS again next time, I’ll try the other rides and watch the shows too, plus I’ll make sure to give it one full day.
